Bonne Terre Memorial Library

Wireless Access (Wi-Fi) Policy

Adopted Jan. 1, 2010

Connecting to the Library’s Wireless Network

The Bonne Terre Memorial Library offers free wireless access to the Internet via wireless (Wi-Fi) connectivity throughout the entire building at all times the library is open. No library card is required. Patrons accessing the wireless network agree to abide by the Bonne Terre Memorial Library’s Internet Access Policy.  This policy prohibits abusive, offensive and illegal activities while inside the facility or while using the Library’s internet connection. Library patrons will need to provide their own equipment with an installed Wi-Fi network card. To obtain the password you may enquire at either librarian desk.

Limitations and Disclaimers

  • Library staff may not be able to provide technical assistance and no guarantee can be provided that you will be able to make a library connection.
  • The Library’s wireless network is not secure. Information sent from or to your laptop can be captured by anyone else with a wireless device and the appropriate software, within three hundred feet.
  • The Library assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment or for laptop configurations, security, or data files resulting from connection to the Library’s network.
  • Patrons may not have access to the library printers through the Wi-Fi connection. To print, work may have to be saved to a disk or e-mailed to the patron’s account and then accessed on a device that is connected to a printer.
  • Wi-Fi users should not unplug any other library equipment to plug in their own devices.
  • Wi-Fi users are expected to abide by federal and state copyright laws and not download pirated or copy right protected materials while connected to our Wi-Fi.

This Internet User Policy may be amended from time to time.
